"Blues by the Sea started in 1999 in Hammond, OR as the dream of producer Mr. Ken Johnson. He started the festival so he could have a steady gig. My how the times have changed. Through the years, the festival has seen such greats as Ellen Whyte, Coco Montoya, Paul deLay, Lloyd Jones, Robbie Laws, Terry Robb, Sonny Hess, Duffy Bishop, The Insomniacs, Eric "Two Scoops" Moore, The Randy Oxford Band & Nicole Fournier, just to name a few. The list of fabulous talent is endless. Blues by the Sea has been coined "The largest festival of its kind on the beautiful Oregon Coast" & has been nominated "Best Blues Event" several times by the Cascade Blues Association, only to be beaten by the Waterfront Blues Festival. The festival has moved back to Clatsop County, OR. BBTS has always had a soft spot for the Oregon Food Bank and over the last 10 years, that has not changed. In Clatsop County, Clatsop Community Action Regional Food Bank is the benefactor of the festival. As our 12^th year approaches, we like our new home and hope for many years of continued partnership with Clatsop County in every corner of the county."
