About the Event:
Piano. Push. Play. and AUXART, present Portland-based singer-songwriter Robin Bacior on Thursday, August 25th, as part of the To The River sculpture and sound art residency at Zidell Yards. An award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Robin Bacior has received praise from innumerable media platforms including, NPR’s All Songs Considered, Vh1, MTV, NYLON, and L Magazine. For this special event, Bacior will be playing one of Piano. Push. Play’s acoustic pianos and performing with her band on the site’s magnificent promontory overlooking the Willamette River. The venue is a sculptural theater en plein air made from salvaged wood that accommodates a limited audience of 100.
AUXART produces architectural scale sculpture works that serve as collaborative settings for music and sound adventures. The To The River is the result of a summer-long Residency at Zidell Yards that will play host to a half dozen musical performances through the end of September. The residency is focused on the way that the Willamette River and rivers in general connect us across geographies, time, and ideas about difference through shared networks of sustenance. The work is inspired by the many devotional ways that people go to the river to meet, to cleanse their souls, or to start anew.
