AUXART is pleased to present José Medeles, Lisa Molinaro, Raymond Richards and Steve Berlin in a live performance of the soundscape they composed and recorded for the immersive High Water installation at Building 5. The four virtuoso multi instrumentalists will embody the emotional arc of an approaching, landing and finally receding Storm in five movements. They will play from within AUXART’s installation High Water, additionally animated by a dynamic lighting design created by Nick Rayment.

The once-in-a-lifetime setting includes José (1939 Ensemble) on drums and ambient clatter, Lisa (Modest Mouse) on viola, Raymond (The Parson Redheads) on pedal steel and synth and Steve (Los Lobos) on baritone sax. Expect the trancelike rumble and swirl of Medeles’s earthly drums to fuse with the imploring and ominous emotions of the windy instruments in a journey through an imagining of overwhelming natural events. It will be extraordinary.

The venue is a sculptural theater made from salvaged rope, iron, wood, cardboard and pipe. Seating is in the round. Running time is approximately 45 minutes. AUXART produces architectural scale sculpture works that serve as collaborative settings for music and sound adventures. High Water is the result of a residency hosted by Portalnd’s Building 5 and funded by Community donations.
